What is a residence permit?
A residence permit is an official document, allowing a foreign citizen to live in a country that he was not born in for a definite length of time.
Types and conditions of residence permit in Turkey
According to Turkish law, foreign nationals who are staying more than 90 days in Turkey must receive a residence permit within the framework of Foreign and International Protection Act. These foreign nationals should apply for residence permit appointment to the Directorate General of Migration Management in their city in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No 6458, in accordance with their purpose of coming.
Applications for foreign nationals who will request a residence permit for Istanbul are made through a residence permit appointment.
The following are exempted from residence permit in Turkey
Those who come with a visa or visa exemption for up to 90 days.
Those who have the certificate of statelessness.
Diplomats and consular officers and their families in Turkey.
Representatives of international organizations exempt from the residence permit in Turkey.
The residence permit is determined by the purpose of the presence of foreign nationals in Turkey and the type of visa.

There are 6 types of residence permits:
Short-term residence permit
Tourist residence
Foreigners with title deeds
Foreigners staying for therapeutic purposes
Foreigners on trial
Foreigners attending Turkish courses
Those who completed university education
Scientific researchers
Commercial business people
Those in the student exchange program.
For these and similar reasons, residents can obtain a short-term residence permit for one year at a time.

Family residence permit
A family residence permit can be granted to the foreign spouse of Turkish citizens or foreigners with one of the residence permits, or to the child under eighteen years of age or dependent child of the foreign spouse. The family residence permit can cover a maximum of two years at a time.

Student residence permit
Foreigners who will study at the university may be granted a study residence permit. Student residence permit does not cover the relatives of students.

Long-term residence permit
Long-term residence permit can be granted to the foreigners who have lived in the country for at least eight years without interruption, with the approval of the Ministry.

Humanitarian residence permit
In some cases, with the approval of the Ministry, humanitarian residence permits can be granted by the governorships for a maximum of one year, without looking for conditions in other residence permits.

Residence permit for victims of human trafficking
In residence permits for victims of human trafficking, the conditions for granting other residence permits are not sought. Foreigners who are victims of trafficking or who are strongly suspected that they may be, are given a residence permit for thirty days by the governorships.

The application for a residence permit can be made domestically and abroad. Application for a residence permit from abroad is made through consulates in the country where the foreigner is a citizen.
Those who have a residence in Turkey can apply for a residence permit appointment to the Directorate General of Migration Management.
Required document list and application conditions are different for each application. It is beneficial to get help from a specialist organization in order to conclude the application process as soon as possible and in a healthy manner. Sensitivity to the residence permit application or the renewal of this application prevents possible loss of rights.
